Stay in Pinellas County. A dedicated instructor, airports close to home, and training flights that run right up the Gulf coast you already know.
Clearwater students learn to fly with November Foxtrot Aviation, a St. Petersburg based instructor who teaches at airports across the Tampa Bay area, including ones in Pinellas County. Training is one on one at $40 an hour of instruction. The $140 discovery flight lasts 1.5 hours and puts you at the controls over the Gulf beaches.
Clearwater Air Park and St. Pete Clearwater International are both good airports and both are within Stefan's range, so many north county students never make the drive south. If you prefer St. Petersburg, it is about 35 minutes from downtown Clearwater on US 19 or the Bayside Bridge to I-275, with no bay bridges and no tolls. Tell Stefan where you live and he will suggest the closest option.

Students choose Stefan for the instructor, not the zip code: one person teaching every lesson, a plan built around how you learn, and a rate that does not punish you for taking an extra flight to get something right.
The Gulf beaches are the practice area. Lessons run along the coast past St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, and Indian Rocks toward Sand Key and Clearwater Beach, with Pier 60 and the causeway easy to pick out from the air.
